That says it all! A large proportion of objects are manufactured far away. And little by little, their manufacture has become invisible.
At the Dream Factory, I design low-tech, sustainable objects made in Europe.
But above all, I show how they are made: the choices, the constraints, the expertise behind each one. With the aim of making the manufacturing process more understandable, more accessible, and fairer.

BUT FIRST, LET'S INTRODUCE EACH OTHER!
My name is Ophélie, and I'm an industrial designer by training. And yet, I find the market for consumer goods quite deplorable. It pushes us to buy, replace, and throw away... without telling us much about what we're buying. Who made what, where, and how? It's as if things just grow on the shelves!
Behind each of these products, however, are materials, tools, skilled hands, and expertise. Our purchasing choices can help sustain workshops, jobs, and an entire local production network. But first, we need to know what we're buying to make informed choices.
SO, AT THE DREAM FACTORY, I IMAGINE IN BRUSSELS FUNCTIONAL AND PLAYFUL OBJECTS, MADE TO ORDER IN BELGIUM AND/OR IN EUROPE.
Before finding their place in your home, they go through sketches, trials, a few setbacks, and pass through the hands of skilled craftspeople. All of this takes months, sometimes years!
Rather than simply showing you the result, I invite you behind the scenes: materials, techniques, manufacturers, and little adventures. A kind of birth record book to discover online, in print, and soon at the workshop.
Because you no longer look at an object in the same way when you know its history. And adopting it is also choosing what you want to keep alive.
In the near future, I will also welcome you to the workshop.
As much inhabited by objects as by stories as by little feathered and furry souls...
